The Magic Internet Gathering that is MintGox was held for the third time last weekend, on June 7th.

With each event the movement is rapidly evolving. The new MintGox dashboard, that allows non-VR participants to view the event online, has created a more engaging user experience so streamers can feel like they are a part of every activity during the event.

We’re reinventing the way people come together on the internet and interact creating new types of social and economic activities around gaming.

The main measure of success we evaluate is the number of individuals engaging with events and transaction activity. This is only just the beginning and the numbers are already eye popping.

3,300 in-game transations

3.8m satoshis given away to viewers and players

900 players and streamers

If you missed MintGox #003…here are the highlights…and join us for future events!

First Person Shooter

This month’s showcase game was Donnerlab’s awesome first person shooter (FPS) game, Bitcoin Bounty Hunt.

In-game Bitcoin rewards, funded by sponsors, were placed in loot boxes throughout the map for players to collect. Then the fun really starts as players attempt to kill each other and steal each other’s loot!

The MintGox tournament had 32 participants, the game’s highest participation yet, and 53 streamers watching the action unfold.

MintGox VR Citadel

The VR element of MintGox 003 was enhanced significantly from past events, with MandelDuck’s creation of a dream-like ethereal Bitcoin alternate reality. The new MintGox VR world featured an animated Bitcoin wizard, money tree, Bitcoin citadel, and virtual art gallery housing some of Cryptograffiti’s most coveted works.

The VR world included an event stage which hosted the VR talk between MandelDuck and Koji Higashi, projection of the event’s gameplay, and sponsor images. Before the event kicked off, MandelDuck, joined by a cameraman, provided a tour of the VR world so that viewers not present in VR could still spectate on activities, like watching a documentary filmed in the metaverse.

After the event wrapped up, he also took us on a tour of the Bitcoin art gallery, providing historical and creative perspectives on each Cryptograffiti piece.

Sponsors

A truly amazing companies have stepped up to support the movement with sponsorships. We are honoured to have these companies on our side. These forward looking companies recognise that the future of the Internet — and our social lives — lie in gaming.

Their sponsorship enables us to give away millions of satoshis so that the players and streamers can take part in the events, and truly show the potential of lightning as the rails for in-game currency.

If you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring a future MintGox event, please email magicinternetgathering@gmail.com for more information.

What’s Coming Up?

More Games

For upcoming events, MandelDuck is working on a Mario Kart-style game for a cool new eSports event. THNDR games are also working on a follow up to their hugely popular Bitcoin Bounce to be released shortly.

More VR

With each event we will steadily add more VR features and activities; making it fun for the crowd who are present in the VR world, but also fun for the streamers to watch. I’ve heard rumours a real, working Bitcoin mine will make an appearance soon…

More Audience Participation

We want to blur the lines between player and audience, by creating new ways for the audience to interact with games and activities. It’s going to be fun. Bring your Bitcoin wallet!

In short, there will be more opportunities to Earn, Spend and Interact with each other in our magical internet reality.
