A fresh start…

I watch a lot of movies and I am especially fond of the crime thrillers.

There is one particular thing I have always found interesting with them; the sequence after the protagonist has executed the crime and now seeks retirement. Or the top associate has exposed his organisation and now needs a hideout away from the rest of the world,

a.k.a A fresh start…

The hero manages to get away from everyone, with a new identity in a new town. S/he finds a new home by the barn(or the lake), a new grocery store owner to chat with and new friends to drink with at the bar.

I imagine if someone in the real world wanted a fresh start to life, it would be a mountain of a task. It will take a lot of effort and resources to get where our movie hero is.

But the year is 2021.

The internet is a bigger part of our life than anything else. A part of our existence and identity is also our online profiles and social media handles.

Having said that, It should not be that hard to get a fresh start then or at least emulate one.

All you have got to do is delete any and all of your accounts online. From emails and phone numbers to instagram and twitter accounts. Although it is not the same as a new town, It is as close as it gets to having a new version of your life with minimal effort.

You can/not choose to make new accounts depending on how you want your new life to be but with all previous data (profiles) gone, you are as good as a new person.

You will no longer have your network that you built over a decade and it is up to you if you want to make friends again with that weird guy from high-school or not.

Not that anyone reading this is a protagonist from a crime movie, or would want to change their life suddenly.

But I can think of a few cases when people are feeling stuck and this kind of a change would be welcome in their life.

It might feel like a mistake to let go off of all the past that you have but… scroll all the way up to the cover image, again.
