I think there’s some kind of anti-umbrella machismo in London the way there is in NYC.
I felt like I was the only person prepared for rain, despite living in a place where rain only comes once or twice a year (California). I think, just like New York, men wouldn’t be caught dead with umbrellas, although native London people kept running under eaves and screaming, “It’s raining!” every time the heavy rains hit.
