Christian Siriano is a well-known fashion designer who started his fame on popular television contest Project Runway. Many of his looks have sparked interest around the world because of the boldness of their design and messaging. Due to this, the fashion museum of Savannah College of Art and Design, called SCAD FASH, decided to host an exhibit: ‘Christian Siriano: People Are People’ that includes many of the designer’s flawless custom pieces.

Many of the iconic pieces shown in the SCAD FASH exhibit have been worn by worldwide figures such as Lizzo, Michelle Obama, Celine Dion, and Zendaya. They have been worn in places such as the Oscars, Grammys, and the Met Gala.

What truly sets these looks apart is the impact they have on the fashion industry. When dressing a celebrity, Siriano likes to show off their personality through the look to boost their confidence. Siriano creates custom designs for all kinds of body types—promoting a more realistic and supportive approach to fashion.

The designer has also branched out and designed for all genders, which includes suits and playful mixtures of gowns with menswear. Without the diverse fashion statements and models, he might not have been as popular as he is today.

The ‘People are People’ exhibit highlights all of these eccentric outfits. In person, the exhibit provides a chance to fully see the range of wild to soft looks and inclusivity the designer has towards diversity and body positivity.

The museum claims, “With more than a decade of practice, the designer and his studio continue to celebrate beauty and diversity in this ever-changing fashion industry.”
