Blockchain technology helps to preserve individual medical data in a safe manner so that nobody can hack confidential information. In this post, you can learn how the hospital/patient/third party relationship is reflected in the token ecosystem of MISBLOC. In short, MSB tokens can be used generally during the issuance of medical records or when utilizing those records at partnering institutions.
Utilization of Medical Data
Issuing Medical Record
On the native mobile device app, ANAPATALK, patients can easily request their personal records without any obstacles. When a patient purchases MSB tokens, pays a certain amount, and requests his or her medical records, the doctor issues the electronic medical records to the patient’s electronic app. Here, a certain portion of the fees incurred will be used for the maintenance of the blockchain network, while the major portion will be allocated to the doctor who created the first medical record. Currently, paper charts cost KRW 2,000 to 3,000 per sheet, allowing patients to own their medical records only temporarily. However, if the electronic medical record is registered on the blockchain, users can simply use MSB tokens to digitally receive ownership of their permanent record.
Under the existing method, if a patient wants to issue a copy of their X-ray, it will be stored on a CD and issued at a cost of around KRW 10,000–20,000 per copy. Re-issuance will also cost more time and money. Yet in the new method, if a patient uses MSB tokens as an alternative, the doctor will directly send a copy of the X-ray to the patient’s app, which reduces the unnecessary time expenditure and re-issuance cost.
Medical Record Utilization
It is in fact very useful to use MSB tokens to purchase special records such as diagnosis certificates, doctor notes, or medical certificates, especially if the patient was originally treated far from their home. After a patient purchases and pays with tokens, the medical institution sends the necessary eDocuments to the patient’s mobile app. Here, a small portion of the tokens will be paid by the patient to each medical institution. The tokens will be distributed to nodes to retain the network. However, the major portion of tokens will certainly be paid to the corresponding medical institution that issues the document.
If a patient submits a medical record to another medical institution after changing medical institutions, an additional fee will not be charged. In this situation, the patient can designate which part of their medical record they’d like to send and send it to the medical institution with a simple click. If the data sent is MyData, not a general medical record, the data will be stored on another blockchain-based server and compensated with tokens. MyData can be reprocessed at a third-party institution and based on this processed data, patients can receive health-related services.
