By Thursday, there was very obvious pressure on Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), Maryland to find the children. There was emotion at every turn — complete strangers so upset it often put the family in the odd predicament of reassuring the public. I am only telling my account, as other family found themselves discussing Sarah and Jacob in public — while trying to prioritize tasks which were the most likely to get results.

So on Thursday, September 11, day 3 of their disappearance— MCPD asked Catherine’s father (as he was the closest to her) to make a public plea for her to come forward with the children.

The reference to “72 hours” by Captain Francke in this video used Jacob’s “disappearance” as a marker, as they each “disappeared” at different times:

· Jacob, the afternoon of Sunday, September 7, 2014 by 5 PM

· Sarah, the next morning, Monday, September 8, 2014, by 8 AM

· Catherine, Monday night at about 7 PM

Experts in missing persons had no precedence to serve as a predictor, as other cases typically include the disappearance of the missing persons to be at the same time.

By Thursday, there were all indications that the case had been moved to Major Crimes (homicide) prior the 72 hour mark.
