Change Your World Contest

John and I recently found this letter which Amanda had written to our local Christian radio station for a “Change Your World Contest”. Amanda’s goal truly was to change the world and now even though she is not living here on earth, she lives on in eternity and God is fulfilling her dream of changing the world, one life at a time.

John 11:25: Jesus said to her “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live, even though they die..”

When our hope is in the risen Lord, we live for eternity and God fulfills our mission!

Dear Life 100.3,

As I am in my final year of high school and am preparing for university I have been bombarded with a multitude of essays and various applications for programs and scholarships. However, when I heard that Life 100.3 was holding the Change Your World Contest I knew this was not just another application to fill out. This is an incredible opportunity to impact lives and watch as God does mighty things in those that are ministered to, as well as in my own heart. This is not so much an application as a chance to put up my hand and say, “God use me! I want to see your wonders!”

I am so appreciative of Life 100.3 for making missions such a priority and giving listeners a chance to be Jesus’ hands and feet. As I considered this opportunity I looked back on a life “to do” list I had made at summer camp on July 31, 2008. The first thing on the list was a mission trip to Africa and also on the list was “heal and protect God’s children”.

For years I have felt such a great burden for South Africa. My Poppie (grandfather) is president of a Christian medical organization called Health Partners International. When I heard his stories of the lives of these precious children and how a simple hug, meal or medicine could have such an effect on the course of these children’s lives, I was inspired to do something.

Several years ago, God told me that He wanted me to go into the medical field. I felt Him telling me that no matter how difficult that path may be I need to use my skills and abilities to help those in need. I also felt Him telling me that one day He wanted me to go on a medical mission trip to Africa. At this time God gave me the verse from Luke 1:45: “Blessed is she who believed; for there shall be a fulfillment of those things which have been spoken to her from the Lord.” I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me. Whether I am to go on this mission trip or to wait, I know that this is only the beginning of the awesome missions that God has planned for me.

I am striving to follow God’s perfect plan and trust in his perfect timing, knowing that his will for me is an ongoing process and he works all things together for good to those who trust in Him and are called by His purposes. I am excited for God’s plan for me and for the lives that will be touched as I choose to seek Him.

Jesus said “Let the little children come to me” Matthew 19:14. “But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David,’ they were indignant. ‘Do you hear what these children are saying?’ they asked him. ‘Yes,’ replied Jesus, ‘Have you never read: Out of the mouths of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise.” (Matthew 21:15–16)

I so long to hold these precious children in my arms and show God’s love to them even as they lead me in worship of the Savior of the world.

Yours Sincerely Amanda Kelsall
