Six or seven years ago, my dad and I were chatting and he asked me what my goals were. My answer was instant. “I want to be rich and famous”. He laughed at me. “Sweetheart”, he said, “If you’re going to be successful, you’re going to need something a little more… meaningful.” As usual, he was right.

I’ve always wanted to change the world, I just wanted a gold star for doing it. Recognition and wealth were, to me, signs that I was making an impact. Now, I feel almost exactly the opposite. Impact is wealth. Creating social change, building communities, spreading peace and love and security, those things make me feel fulfilled.

Still from our short film Disclosure

When my husband Alvin and I met, we formed our bonds talking about the universe and the ways in which we could influence it through our work. Those talks helped to shift my views and goals. Learning more about the world, caring more about another person than I cared about myself, delving into society, the struggles and solutions, all these things shaped us. That’s why we shifted Mission’s goals from just creating dope content, to creating dope content that actually adds some good into the world. We want to help build businesses that are going to change lives; we want to use our art for good.

I used to want to be a billionaire. Now, my goal is to raise a billion dollars for social good. I used to want to be on t.v. Now, I want to make t.v. shows that showcase people from all walks of life, movies that change people’s perceptions, content that matters. That’s what our company is about, legacy and impact, and those are the type of companies we partner with. People that can join us on our mission to change the world.
