When we started Missions at Robots & Pencils, we set out to make it easy for anyone to automate team workflows in Slack. We believed the collaboration hub model is the future of work. We took a people first approach and wanted to make tools available to anyone, not just developers.

Earlier this year it became obvious that we could massively scale up this vision and our impact on teams at work if Missions was part of Slack. Today we are excited to announce that Missions has been acquired by Slack 🎉.

The Mission will continue

We’d like to thank our customers (spanning six continents!), for your trust, enthusiasm, and formative feedback 🤗. Missions will grow and change over time, and we will support you in the transition along the way.

Existing customers can continue using Missions as is — for free — for at least the next six months while we work on integrating Missions into Slack. We’ll stop billing you as of today. The Missions you’ve created will continue working until the next evolution of Missions is released. We’re excited to continue this Mission with you 😉!

New beginnings

The Missions team has joined Slack and will help slingshot the growth of the new Slack office in Denver. We’ll be expanding our team in Denver immediately, so if you’re interested in joining our mission, we’d love to hear from you!

Conversely, we’ll be leaving the most magical, talented, caring, creative team of people I’ve ever had the privilege to work alongside. I’ve never felt more liberated and supported anywhere in my career as I have at Robots & Pencils. Thank you MJ, Tracey, Camille and the entire team at R&P! However, this doesn’t mean goodbye; I’ll be continuing on in an advisory role as an R&P Fellow. Read more about our journey at R&P here.

Thanks to the team at Slack, especially Richard, Sachin and Brian. Thanks to Amir, Ben, Curtis, Jamie and everyone who believed in us. Thanks to Brad, Cory, Chris and our families.
