An open letter to the people who waste my time

Look.

I don’t mean to suddenly snap in your face, but I’m fed up. I’m exhausted. And so, SO, tired of everyone who treats my time like they do to breadcrumbs on the ground. Like it f***ing doesn’t matter!

And I hate that feeling, more than ANYTHING in the world. Because if you know me well, if you backtrack to all the things I had to go through, you’d be guilty of robbing what’s left of me.

Because right now, I don’t have nice, fat paychecks running into my bank account. Nor do I have a nice, pimped out resume. Or a loving partner to root me on.

I’m on my own — fighting to piece my life back together. Building the freedom I’d lost from my 9 1/2 year relationship. Mustering every ounce of sweat and strength I have, to impact the world.

And yet, you walk over my life as if I’m a dispensable worker of your grand business, by saying something completely useless, disregarding the help I’ve given you, demanding my time to selfishly help you.

Do you realize how disrespectful that is? Do you not know I have a life that will soon expire, like you?

Time is our most precious gift, more so than money or jobs, simply because we only have a set amount of it.

So when you ask for my time, you’re taking away a portion of my life I can never get back.

And for that, I can never really forgive you. I don’t care if you’re the CEO of a billion-dollar company, a good pal from back then, or a crazy fan.

Time is time. And I value every second of it.

So to the people who…

  • leave rude, obnoxious comments on my post
  • flake on plans I’ve scheduled my time for
  • get upset when I say I don’t have time for something
  • send me useless one-lined email messages
(e.g. “Hi Tiffany” or “Hello dear, how are you doing?”)
  • talk but don’t take action
  • ask me to hang out with ulterior motives
    (i.e. talk about THEIR business)

…do yourself and me, and everyone else who’ll walk into your life, a favor and be respectful of their time when you ask for it.
