#56YearsofKamal. Secret of Success revealed.
We all know Kamal Haasan. A person who inspired billions in all aspects, in acting field. Even common man, without cinema knowledge, would know who Kamal Hassan is. Such is the impact of his acting. So what made him come this long way — 56 years in cinema industry, A fiat which no other actor can even dream of? Desire or Ambition.
Let me get into the philosophical… Err… the Kamal mode for a moment. Ambition is something which will require hard work and ultimately take you somewhere. But desire is something which requires more hard work without expecting that it’ll take you somewhere. You do it for the sake of doing it.
Kamal Hassan. A person only with a strong desire and NO ambition. In my opinion, he never cared about the result of what he does. He does that because he loves doing that. ACTING. Of course, he knew he will be ridiculed, and will have several failures. But still, he did that with more and more love and dedication than others. He molds himself in each and every film just to be better than the previous one. That love and dedication has brought him to this height.
Yes! You are right. He is just another ACTOR. An actor is someone who shows off his skills for money. That’s it and nothing else. But what makes him stand-out you know?
- While any normal actor makes money, Kamal invested what he earned, back into cinemas. Good cinemas without caring about the end result. To my knowledge, only few do this. As a saying goes in Tamil, Kadamaiyai sei palanai ethirpaaraathe. Which means “Don’t expect fruits while you sow the seeds, Kamal stands as an example for that saying. Easily, a selfless human being.
- The artist in him, needless to say, is THE MOST VERSATILE and THE MOST TALENTED the world could see, and am F&%^#NG strong about it! Be it the research he does before the start of a movie or the hard work he puts in and or the stress and strains he undergoes makes it evident that he’s NOT doing these just for the sake of a 180 minute movie. A man who dies and resurrects for every movie he does.
- Not only he gives back to the cinema, he also gives back to the society. While other actors do commercial ads and get paid, he does a campaign for HIV/AIDS awareness for free.
- In movies too, taking up commercialism, nullifying people’s brains and making money is a thing Kamal does rarely. But he has been largely successful in few of those masala films he has done.
He is a man who not just loves to experiment, but also would like to impart knowledge into the viewers both knowledge based and society based. He has taken risks out of his money and lost lots of them. But still never stopped taking risks.
About his involvement in ‘God’-ish things, it has always been controversial. He has always been a RATIONALIST and attributes all his success to hard work. He never tried to prove a point about God’s existence till date. He just feels that it would be better if GOD exists.
He has been a responsible citizen till date. The zero tax arrears is a straight-forward proof for this. Also he doesn’t beats around the bushes both in his movies as well as in his speech, without thinking of the aftermath. The recent “Vishwaroopam” issue is one small example of that though there has been way more incidents in the past.
Apart from all these, he is a film-maker who transcended language barriers, which is really a big thing in a country like India, with his potentials. His movies are enjoyed by people all over India, from north to south, regardless of the languages they speak.
It’s been 56 years since this splendid phenomenon incepted in our industry. His age may show 61 in textual form. But he’s still a little boy who screams for innovation and path-breaking ventures inside our own industry.
