An Open letter to Aamir Khan

Dear Mr. Aamir Khan,

I am writing this open letter to you as I have some tolerance left even after you disrespected my India and its culture.

Ok. I will give you a rough statistics to begin with, 15% of 1.2 billion i.e 180M Indians, my brothers, follow Islam. This number is very much equal to the number of Muslims in Pakistan. India is the third largest country after Indonesia and Pakistan and the first multi-religious country with highest number of Muslim population. This roughly shows the respect Indians have towards other religions which translates to the word called RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE.

With a diverse culture for centuries in India, there have been few unfortunate incidents in past such as Genocide of Hindus by some rulers, 1984 Anti-Sikh riots, 2002 Anti-Muslim riots and 2008 Anti-Christian riots. But then again, these are the act of few barbarians(P.S: they exist in every community) who doesn’t know the value of a life. A person with stable mind WILL NEVER use this as a scale to judge a whole community.

Did this change the unity among Indian citizens? No, not a bit.

After some celebrities like you made few dramas about “intolerance”, I had to google “intolerance” to know about it. In our day to day life, neither we use/think of such complicated words nor we have time to. Because, we are busy celebrating Eid with our Muslim brothers, Christmas with Christian friends and Diwali with our Hindu neighbors. At the end of the day we all see/know each others as humans.

Mr. Aamir. For 50 years you have been an Indian citizen, and at least for 30 years approx. you have been a successful actor. Some of my fellow citizens even think that you are a genius and you shouldn’t have been born in India (No, not for the reasons that you think of). But then you proved every celebrity/successful person is not necessarily intelligent. As a huge fan, I wished you were. Having been in India for so long and earned huge money and respect from Indians, how did you feel so unsecured out of the blue?

I am Hindu by birth. But studied in various Christian institutions for my whole life. Frequently some Christian Missionaries visit these institutions to say about the greatness of Jesus and explain how converting to Christian-ism will purify us. At that time I thought it was an individual’s decision to convert to the religion they wish to. I did not find it as a big deal even. Of course, I tolerated that too.

Turn back and look at the past Aamir. We have the history of saving religions not destroying them.

  • Christianity started to bud here as early as 52 years of death after Christ.
  • The first mosque built outside Mecca was in Kerala (India)
  • The Jews and Tibetans “chose” to take refuge in India
  • The leader of Baha’i faith was saved by Indian cavalryman during world war i and today highest number of Baha’i’s (around 2.2 million) live in India.

But can you show me at least one incident that led to the oust of a whole religion from India? Having provided shelter to all these refugees, do you really think India will not protect its own sons and daughters?

Ok. Now that you have decided to move out of country where will you go?

  • To US, where the president is busy killing innocent Muslims for oil?
  • To Canada/Australia, where the leaders of respective countries are seriously thinking of sending Muslims out of the country?
  • To Russia whose president is not showing any mercy on Muslims, thanks to ISIS?
  • To the “most peaceful” countries in Middle east?
  • To the communist country China?
  • To our neighbor Pakistan or even Afghanistan where terrorists are busy sending its own citizens to heaven “to rest in peace”?
  • To SL which completely eliminated one race in the form of Genocide?

The only choice left for you now is Africa.

Show this to Kiran rao and now ask her to say which is the safest place for her child. If you ask my suggestion, well, as a fellow citizen I would advise you to stay in India. Because I just don’t want to see my brother and his family getting killed/insulted somewhere in the world just because of following Islam.

Be at India and be safe.

If you still want to move out of country, the doors are always open — for you to comeback :)
