“Creator” — one of the most inspiring terms in the English language and one of the most sought-after job titles as of 2018. To most people, it immediately implies inventors, designers, filmmakers — creative professionals. To others, it could also mean content creators: YouTube stars, Podcast gurus and other professionals who put out seemingly creative content for the world to feast on.
And yet, for the general populace, “Creators” never seems to imply “Developers”. You know, those people who created the amazing platform that you’re reading this on — alongside every single app, game, website, service or software product that you have ever used and loved.
Recognizing devs as creators is at the heart of what we do at Mitter.io. It’s a perspective that has made us reevaluate the very idea of who a developer is, what they do, how they do it, and what it means to build tools for them.
Like any other creator, developers need the right tools to bring their ideas to life. And much like in the case of a designer or filmmaker, these tools need to be flexible enough that they never limit the creator’s abilities, and powerful enough to allow them to break norms.
Creators swear by the tools they use because of how well they work at multiple levels — from the features a tool offers and its overall quality, to how fast it is and how easy it makes their job.
Building such tools is never an easy task and the considerations involved are vast and complex.
In the case of Mitter.io, identifying these factors — what makes a tool indispensable to a developer — has played a crucial role in our design. And it is this approach that has allowed us to create what we believe is a truly holistic tool for developers everywhere — one that not only makes it easier to build messaging-centric apps and services, but also provides developers enormous power to build something unprecedented.
Ultimately, Mitter.io a culmination of two distinctly significant thoughts —
First, that developers are creators, and second, that what we’re building isn’t just a platform for messaging but a tool for creators.
