“Devs love to build.”

I’ve heard that on more occasions than I care to recount. And although I’ve had my ear to the tech landscape for 6 years, I only recently understood the implications of that statement: If developers are people who like to build, they are most certainly individuals who want to bring their own ideas to life.

Whether it’s the first games on a hand-held console from the 90s, the first internet browsers that gave people unprecedented power in the 2000s, or even the first wave of apps that only recently washed over our phones and changed lives forever; somewhere, a developer sat at a desk, making things — tangible things — happen. And they did it with frameworks, tools and technology that allowed for it.

Today, we live in a time when technology is as commonplace as the air we breathe; and yet, innovation in technology is trickier than ever to achieve. It’s no more about “whole new technologies,” as much as it is about doing something different (or differently) with the things already at our disposal. And that’s precisely why Mitter.io exists:

As an enabler of innovation for developers everywhere.

The Mitter.io platform is tailored for developers and built with the philosophy that for an infrastructure or platform to truly empower its users, it can make no assumptions about how people will use it and what they might create with it. That means providing functions at such a high level of abstraction that they never impede your ability to build exactly what you need to. Or even want to.

Mitter, by design, aims to free developers from “platform restrictions” that force them to make do or settle. In the context of messaging, that opens a whole new world of opportunities for what’s possible; because over almost two decades, messaging has grown to become one of the most widely adopted technologies across the world, solving a ridiculous number of problems.

Case in point: To the casual user, messaging could simply mean chat, SMS or any other textual form of communication. But to the tinkerers and builders of the world, messaging has long been an opportunity to create whole new services and experiences. It’s why we have messaging-driven products like Intercom (which totally reimagined customer support), and a variety of enterprise messaging systems that have made operations and customer interactions easier than ever before.

The horizon for messaging is always expanding and is only limited by how far developers are willing to see. But to those who believe that they can build better versions of pre-existing messaging services; to those who want to build whole new experiences driven by messaging, the task has always seemed daunting. The inherent complexities in building any sort of a messaging solution (access to the right technology or even the finances involved) means developers have regularly sighed away from creating what could be the next big thing.

On the other hand, the true potential of messaging has possibly evaded many — mostly due to the lack of a messaging platform that’s built for and talks to developers, instead of just setting its sights on enterprises.

But let’s not dwell on the past, because here’s an opportunity to make amends in the future. Mitter.io isn’t just built to be a powerful messaging infrastructure, it is built to be the ultimate tool for developers — enabling them to build exactly what they need to and want to, and empowering them to innovate and bring their ideas to life.

After all, Mitter.io was created for developers, by developers.
