Celebrating MJML’s first birthday and more importantly, what’s next 🎉

MJML: Making Responsive Email Easy
2 min readFeb 7, 2017

One year ago, we released MJML, a framework making responsive email easy that we had developed for internal needs at Mailjet. After using it for more than a year in our own drag and drop editor, we figured it might help other developers and decided to give back to the community by open sourcing it.

From a warm welcome from #emailgeeks…

While we weren’t exactly sure how big it would grow, MJML was quickly acclaimed and featured in the top trends of platforms such as Product Hunt and Github.

Github Stars and Product Hunt upvotes over the first two days

Given how painful coding responsive email can be, we obviously knew we were solving a problem but this enthusiastic reception definitely motivated us to keep working harder and make email better.

…to a new standard for responsive email coding

38 releases, 70,000 downloads and 4,700 Github stars later, MJML is off to a good start to become a - if not the - standard for email coding. It now even has its dedicated tutorial on Smashing Magazine, the reference website for web developers and designers!

This is already a lot, but only the beginning. We have an ambitious roadmap and we know we’ll get there thanks to the help of our contributors to make 2017 even better than 2016!

Celebrating all month long with our community

MJML wouldn’t be where it is now without its amazing community, so sharing this celebration with you is obviously the right thing to do. Starting now, on each Tuesday of February, we’ll release something new and exciting, so stay tuned!

Let’s get the party started with a new dedicated page where you’ll find all the major events that happened over the past year as well as the next announcements of the month: to discover the retrospective page, head over to https://mjml.io/journey. If you like it, please share with #MJMLbirthday!

What do you think the next announcements will be? Comment to share your guess or what you’d like it to be!

Love MJML? Join the team and the community on Slack, Twitter and always keep up to date by subscribing to the newsletter on https://mjml.io.
