MLG Blockchain Bootcamp: What to Expect This September
At attention, all blockchain cadets! We have just released tickets to our two-day intensive MLG Blockchain Bootcamp. Are you ready to get fit on everything from cryptography to cryptocurrency consulting? Over two concentrated days, learn from our seasoned blockchain executives and come out of the course MLG Certified. We are excited to be able to share our blockchain expertise, and hope you are ready to learn. We’ve provided a little overview of what you can expect from our course, and will be at the ready if you have any questions before diving into your future in the blockchain space.
The program, which will take place on September 15 and September 16, will cover a twelve-part curriculum, ensuring that you have everything you need to know from the technical intricacies of the Ethereum blockchain to the future of economics and regulation in Canada’s blockchain landscape. Whether you are new to the technology and want a sweeping overview of the need-to-knows, or a blockchain enthusiast looking to hone your skills to further yourself in the industry, our program has something to offer.
The Blockchain Bootcamp will be taught by the CEO and Founder of MLG Blockchain, Michael Gord. Gord first became involved with the blockchain space in university, when he founded the Blockchain Club at McGill University in 2014. After making the first donation of cryptocurrency to the McGill Alumni Association upon graduating, he became the first enterprise blockchain developer at TD Bank. Being a self-starter and once a student of the industry himself, he understands how the complexity of the technology can seem intimidating, and will offer students the support they need to grasp concepts big and small.
Agenda: Day 1
The first half of the course will begin with a brief overview of blockchain. For beginners, this will mean an introduction to the fundamental terms relating to the technology and the industry, and for blockchain fans, a quick refresher. The course will continue with a more macroscopic look at where blockchain technology and cryptocurrency fits into the history of money and economies, before diving into the “OG” of crypto: bitcoin. Although bitcoin still holds much clout over the industry, MLG remains a blockchain agnostic firm that does works with various blockchains and fabrics.
With this in mind, the next two sections of the course will be committed to learning about the structures of Ethereum and Hyperledger, respectively. Topics will include the design principles behind Ethereum, smart contracts, APIs, the Ethereum Virtual Machine and industry use cases for both blockchains, to name a few. After participants are fully versed in the nuances between these three blockchains, they will be led into a primer on basic cryptography.
Agenda: Day 2
The last half of the course will cover crypto mining, including Proof-of-Work- and Proof-of-Stake protocols, and mining algorithms. Upon completion, the course will head into the world of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), covering both the economic and technical sides. This section will help students to break through the noise surrounding the current ICO marketplace, and come out with a stable and thorough understanding of how a token sale goes from a simple idea to a multi-million dollar offering. Finally, to finish off the course, the bootcamp will cover what the regulatory landscape looks like in Canada and the real-world potential of this technology and the exciting direction that its heading.
The two-day program is designed to be an intensely focused and highly informative experience for students, and we expect them to complete the course and demonstrate the skills and knowledge required in order to become MLG Certified. By becoming MLG Certified, you can leverage our global reputation to further your career in our burgeoning industry.
