Today it was announced that England’s Michael Bisping would get his first UFC title shot after Chris Weidman pulled out with a large extrusion herniation.

“The Count” will have just over a week’s worth of a fight camp to take on UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold in a rematch from 2014 where Rockhold submitted Bisping in the second round.

After 35 fights against the likes of: Anderson Silva, Wanderlei Silva, Vitor Belfort, Rashad Evans, and Dan Henderson — a short notice fight should not affect a veteran like Bisping.

The only question is — can he be the first English UFC champion?

Bisping is an old school fighter. Anytime, anyplace, anywhere. He’s had big wins and big losses, and his goal was to be UFC champion.

In our interview with Bisping for FilmOn TV Network, Bisping says he’s still getting better as a martial artist and believes he will achieve that.

After the fight was announced, Bisping posted this statement on Instagram:

“In 2 weeks I fight for the middleweight title. Yes it’s on short notice, but I’ve been working towards this my entire life. It is my destiny to win this belt!”

Luke Rockhold responded on Twitter saying, “I’m not ****** leavin, the show goes on,” and posted this picture:

UFC 199 in Los Angeles is just over two weeks away in which: 1. Bisping will have his chance to win the title 2. We will see who’s improved more — Rockhold or Bisping.

Oh, and by the way. The most important question will be answered: Can Michael Bisping win UFC gold?
