The Ultimate Guide to Your First Kink Play Party

I’ve witnessed an upsurge in young kinksters bringing new lifestyles into what used to be a very heterosexual, cisgender, male space.

Many newbies are simply curious, some are driven, and a few are presumptuous. We old-timers welcome you all, and as a lesbian, I’m especially grateful for the growth of diversity.

I’ve been in and out of the kink scene for thirty-five years, across two states, through college, marriage, children, and — as you might imagine — great personal changes.

Currently, I engage with the kink community through Fetlife, an online social media site. You create a profile, “Follow,” and “Friend” like everywhere else. Here are few tips:

• Regarding what you share, treat the site with more caution than any other site you’re on.
• Choose your role. If you’re not sure, “Evolving” is a good choice. Not a good idea to call yourself a “Dom” or “Slave” or anything else just because you like how it sounds. Reputations matter. Roles matter.
