We briefed the US Air Force Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) on Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technologies and our progress on the CRADA agreement with the US Navy (NAVSEA Port Hueneme).

The SAB is conducting a study titled 21st Century Training and Education Technologies. Some of the goals are:

  • Determine current state-of-the-art commercial capabilities for augmented reality that are potentially relevant to Air Force education and training…
  • Identify opportunities for Air Education and Training Command (AETC) and other MAJCOMs to leverage AR/VR and other technologies…
  • Determine shortfalls in current and projected AR/VR capabilities relevant to Air Force education and training…

Moback presented the ongoing work with the CRADA with the US Navy NAVSEA Port Hueneme Devision on the AR distance support tool ARRA.

We gave feedback on the successes and pitfalls of consumer AR in military environments and suggested avenues of further study.
