Our Plans for Preseason

Hey Everyone,

Preseason is a very fun time for everyone. Exploration becomes a priority. Crazy bugs and broken builds are found. New metas are forged. At Mobalytics, we love new metas because we enjoying thinking critically about what will be valuable and what won’t. We will even give some predictions on what might be up and coming.

However, one of the things we can’t do is immediately give a thorough analysis and valuation of all the new information. This will come with time. We can guess what’s strong but we don’t really know how strong. On top of that, Riot is usually very fluid with buffs and nerfs across during the Preseason.

Our plan is to let things settle down and thoughtfully evaluate everything. Before the next season is ready to hit the buzzer, we have the following goals:

Goal 1: Runes

This is gonna be fun…

By the time the Preseason ends, we want to have a good grasp of new runes and builds. Over the course of the Preseason we want all the new runes/stats/builds to be incorporated into our GPI scoring systems, Pre Game, and Post Game.

There are really cool rune stats that Riot has included in the new patch, things like damage done from Arcane Comet and resources acquired etc… We aren’t sure how much information is available in the API, and how we can contextualize it, but these are things we are exploring. Plus this is a great time to be doing it, since we have all our other reworks in progress thanks to your feedback. So if you have any cool things you want to see with new runes, let us know and we will see if we can make it happen!

Goal 2: Advice

With all the new stuff comes lots of new advice to deal with OP shit. In some cases this makes old advice obsolete, and we have to rework that. Luckily, a lot of our advice is focused on game fundamentals. As repetitive as that may seem, and not what people want to hear, fundamentals are the core of League or any game, so yeah…chop wood, carry water.

Goal 3 : Visualization and UI

There’s a lot of information that has changed and need reworks, and we also have a lot of new features that are coming in. Somewhere along the way, we moved away from the original concepts we had and now have way too many “things” in the UI. We will be carefully reworking our space distribution and how you visualize and interact with new and old features to improve your overall experience.

Goal 4: Content

We love creating content guys, and we take pride in stuff we make so sometimes it takes us a while to get things right. We will be making a lot of stuff around the new game features: seminars, articles, videos, etc…For example, our future tier lists will include recommended pages for all of the champions on that list. Since we create the content mostly for you (hey we love ourselves too!), please let us know what type of things you are interested in seeing.
