Overview

The Seniors in a college, play a big role in shaping a student. Seniors play the dual role of a friend and a mentor. They counsel you on what to study, how to study, projects to take up, internship opportunities, higher studies, and simple old personal problems amongst other things. 😄😄

“R-Connect” provides a platform for the students in IIT Roorkee to connect to other students and seniors in the college. 😁

How did I get the idea?

I thought of making the app because when a fresher comes to college, he/she is in confusion about which field to go for and which seniors to consult to dive into that field. 😐

At the start of the semester, various campus groups in college conduct their intro talks. Freshers get confused about which group to try for.

Seniors can easily guide you about what are the perks, pre-requisites, fun, scope, etc in a particular field. 😎

R-Connect helps you connect with people with the same areas of interest as you, or maybe help you discover something new altogether! 😍

Here are some screens from my app: 😉

Future Goals

  • Implementing chat service and friend request type activity.
  • Testing the app on various devices.
  • Hope to make R-Connect just like Linked-in of IIT-R.

SoC Experience

SoC is a 3-month season of code conducted by the prestigious Mobile Development Group (MDG) of IIT Roorkee, wherein we are supposed to give a proposal, work on the project under the mentorship of a mentor from MDG and finally release our app after 1 month of rigorous coding. 💻 💻

My experience of SoC was fantastic. It helped me to dive into Android Development. It gave me a flavour of GSoC.😀😀

The 1 month coding phase was full of ups and downs.

In this journey of SoC, slowly and steadily my level grew and what more do you want at the end of a project except learning and satisfaction!! 😇

Thanks for reading!! 😜
