Allissa Richardson and Judd Slivka at the University of Nebraska Mobile Me and You Conference

The Mobile Me & You conference was held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on Thursday and Friday. The Conference discussed the power of mobile media and how it can improve our daily lives.

There were a number of different topics and speakers at this event revolving around mobile media usage in our communities.

Allissa Richardson and Judd Slivka demonstrated different mobile tools and how they are important to mobile media. They also discussed a few applications that can help with mobile journalism.

Richardson trains youth to use smartphones, MP3 players, and tablets to report news. She was selected in 2014 by Harvard University for it’s prestigious Nieman Foundation Journalism Fellowship.

Slivka is an assistant professor of convergence journalism at the Missouri school of journalism. He teaches mobile journalism and multimedia journalism. He has worked as a reporter and editor at the Arizona Republic, and as a reporter at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Richardson demonstrated how to use the app FilMicPRO and how it has changed the way we have used smart phones for journalism.

“FilMicPRO allows us to do things with mobile devices we never thought would be possible three or four years ago.”

PicPlayPost is an app that was also introduced. It allows you to make video collages all on your phone.

“PicPlayPost is the most powerful app we have,” Slivka said “It is much more visually appealing then anything we have seen before”

There were also many items that were shown at this event. This link will provide you with all the tools and descriptions from the conference:
