In the context of our mobile reputations of sharing economy and collaborative consumption course we were asked by our coordinator Mrs. Betty Tsakarestou to interview ten creative Millennials in order to examine their behaviors and their relationship with their mobile phones on a daily basis. Comparing all the interviews we found some significant insights about their everyday mobile habits and about their editing routine as well.

By reading all the interviews, it’s pretty clear how Instagram is the number one favorite application and their first things in the morning. Most of them, want to keep it professional, promoting more their work and less their lifestyle. Besides Instagram, Millennials tend to use a lot: Spotify / Youtube, Messenger, Google maps, whether they consider them favorites or not. It’s really interesting how Facebook may be kind of dead but no one has deleted it yet. Moreover, everyone use it as a tool in order to find events and seminars. Snapchat was not mentioned at all. As far as Messenger, we can see that Millennials that do not have international friends to communicate with, tend to prefer it over Whatsapp.

Millennials use their phone all day long, the average rate is five hours per day. In some cases, Millennials seem to spent less time on mobile, but in these cases it is because they are spending more time on their laptops. In general, most of them use their mobile for daily tasks and their PC for editing. When it comes to them being with friends, they try not to check their mobile. All of them believe their generation is addicted but themselves seem to try to control it. Some could even live without their mobiles but just for few days. They say that with their mobiles they can feel both connected and disconnected. It’s a form of a daily communication but at the same time mobiles can boost a feeling of disconnection by limiting face to face communication.

In addition , an unexpected insight is that Millennials don’t do as much online shopping as we would expect and when they do they do it is via official sites .They would more likely pay for apps like Spotify Premium, VSCO.

Statistically speaking they do not follow common Influencers. They may follow designers, photographers and magazines or they will just simply visit their accounts in order to get inspired. When it comes to mobile and creativity, they prefer to use professional cameras for their work and they would rather use their mobile cameras for occasions such as Instagram stories. For them it’s all about the aesthetics and editing.

Comparing all the interviews, we could consider VSCO, Lightroom and Photoshop to be the best and most used editing applications. Last but not least, not everyone agrees that you can learn editing through apps.
