Mobile Me & You : its.ayo_
In the context of our mobile reputations of sharing economy and collaborative consumption course we were asked by our coordinator Mrs Betty Tsakarestou to examine millennials’ behaviors and their relationship with their mobile phones on a daily basis. Some of the topics that we had to put under the microscope were the time their screen time, their mobile habits, their favorite and most used apps and whether their mobile phones are their personal assistants as well.
After presenting our own behavior, our friends’ habits and some global case studies, we choose to further examine a specific target group, a community. We decided to interview millennials that might use their mobile phones’ services and the possibilities they offer as a creative output. Konstantinos is one of them.
Konstantinos is a male 22 years old graphic designer who studies at the University of the Aegean / DPSD, in Syros. First thing he does in the morning is to check his Instagram stories, messenger and put a playlist on Spotify. His Favorite apps are Instagram, Spotify and messenger and his most used: Instagram, Facebook, Netflix , messenger
If we took his phone he would be okay although he would definitely seek another way of communication. He could last just one day without his phone, he feels it is a part of him. During the day his phone doesn’t help him as an assistant. He prefers to write everything down and he only uses the alarm of his phone. He works strictly on his PC cause of the photoshop which is the main tool of his work. He’s phone p helps him on transferring money, checking money balance, ordering food and for transportation in Athens or Syros.
Konstantinos shares his designs on Facebook and on Instagram in order to promote them. He also likes to promote his stuff through insta-stories quite a lot. Basically is a huge fan of Instagram stories and posts many of them through the day, including his friends or his work.
Konstantinos uses many chatting apps like :whatsapp, Viber and messenger.
When he is out with friends he frequently picks up his phone, chats and posts Instagram-stories. As a true millennial, he has a premium Spotify account and a premium Netflix account. He buys lots of stuff online especially clothes ,He is a Premier league and football fan in general so he checks the football results every hour through a variety of applications.
He accepts the influencers term but he thinks that they are not a big deal. They just have too many followers and post stuff they or companies want to promote. He follows and checks some of the best Greek and foreign graphic designers cause he admires their work and takes some interesting ideas for his own designs.
Konstantinos designs and edits his posters only on pc and he strictly uses photoshop. He only uses stock apps and Instagram tools in order to post a photo on his Instagram.He is strict about his poster designs and he thinks that you have to pay if you want a good result on your work.
Finally he thinks that an amateur designer can use a pro app but he will not fulfill the apps maximum potential and uses as good as a professional.
