Our task in the course “Mobile Reputations- Collaborative Consumption in Sharing Economy” was to conduct a research in a community of our choice. My team and I thought that it would be of great interest to be close to and see how things work in a start up community. Our choice is Gigalize, an online platform that enables fans to start a campaign and bring their favorite artists in town. As my fellow team members (Babis Papanastasatos, Vissaria Thanou, Anastasia Mitsikosta, Vasia Maneta, Veroi Katsarou and Konstantinos Fountoulis) have mentioned it was a very interesting process and the whole aspects of the project are presented by them. As a conclusion, Gigalize’s break through idea wasvery inspiring and the amount of work put into this start up was amazing. Combining research and strategic intuition is the reason why this start up is succesful. But because it is pioneering in the music and enterpreneurship industry, the process of being established in this specific area was very challenging as well. Some of the difficulties that the Gigalize team has encountered are the external funds that are not very easy to be found and the contrasting interests with the music production companies. At the end of the day, the journey of getting to know how a peer to peer platform works was a very fruitful one and has given us the right tools to understand the terms of collaborative cosnumption and sharing economy.
