Participate in Creating a Better World, One Couch at a Time.

If you surf a little on the Internet, you can see how Couchsurfing started. It’s actually pretty interesting… Casey Fenton found an inexpensive flight from Boston to Iceland. He then randomly e-mailed 1,500 students from the University of Iceland asking if he could stay, even if just to use their couches. He ultimately received more than 50 offers of accommodation. On the return flight to Boston, he began to develop the ideas based on how he could turn his experience to something bigger. It wasn’t long until he created couchsurfing.com. At first, the organization was designed to provide a platform for people to connect all over the world, fostering more affordable travel and more immersive cultural experiences, by encouraging users to provide and benefit from free in-home lodging. After a few problems and losses, it only grew stronger. It started non-profit, and the goal is to connect people from all over the world, who will share experiences and educate each other on their ways, in order for each individual person to become a better version of themselves. They connect, share experiences and open their homes and their hearts to other people.
