We have four amazing artists performing for you today: Tim Hall, Shaina Evoniuk, Mila Tina, and Alex Luu (artist bios below).

Artist Bios:

Tim Hall

Tim Hall is a musician, poet, and producer from Detroit, MI. Currently living in Boston, his poetry draws inspiration from his lived experiences — charting the nuances of blackness, masculinity, and the beauties of life. Hall has shared stages with world-renowned recording artists such as The Nappy Roots, Carolyn Malachi, Bilal, Chris Turner, and Aloe Blacc.

He was nominated for “Session Musician of the Year” by the Boston Music Awards (2018–2020), and honored by WBUR’s Artery 25 as 1 of 25 millennials of color impacting Arts and Culture in Boston. Tim Hall’s work can be found in his self-produced spoken word EP entitled Colors Of My Soul, and in his self-published book titled Trust The Process.

Shaina Evoniuk

Shaina Evoniuk is an electric and acoustic violinist, composer, arranger, band leader, and recording artist who has been dazzling audiences for over a decade.

Shaina earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and has since had the good fortune of traveling the world playing music. She has performed at the Super Bowl, Beijing Spring Festival, Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall and has made appearances with artists such as ODESZA, Gregory Porter, Chicago and Train.

Her favorite recent performance was a collaboration with dancers Lil Buck & Jon Boogz for an audience of 10,000 people in Guadalajara Mexico. Recent recording credits include violin on Shawn Mendes’ Wonder, Leon Bridges’ 2019 GRAMMY-winning song, Bet Aint Worth The Hand, Lizzo’s 2020 GRAMMY-winning album, Cuz I Love You, and Alphabet Rocker’s 2020 GRAMMY-nominated album, The Love.

Mila Tina

Through her innovative mix of percussion, dance, martial arts, and visual design, Mila Tina challenges her audience with thought-provoking performances and spiritually enlightening education material.

Based in New York City, she is a fixture on the local scene where she puts on multi-sensory performances, hosts in-person and online workshops, and is in constant demand as a professional percussionist. With her commitment to social progress and personal betterment, she is dedicated to using her voice to further the causes she believes in.

Of her many productions, highlights include “The Heroine’s Journey: The Woman’s Quest For Wholeness,” a high-energy, empowering live solo drums and dance performance, as well as “Drumanawé,” drum and brain-based workshop and programs for adults, children, women, seniors, and LGBTQ+ that builds self-confidence and brainpower through rhythm, movement, fun neuroplasticity exercises, and empowering language.

Alex Luu

Alex Luu is an Asian American writer, performer, and speaking artist based in Los Angeles, CA. He's a poetry slam champion, having won the 2017 Texas Grand Slam. He is the founder and president of The Slam Scene at the University of Southern California.

He's opened up shows for amazing acts, such as The Black Eyed Peas, George Watsky, and G. Yamazawa. He's shared stages with legends like Saul Williams, Rudy Francisco, Matthew Cuban, Alyesha Wise and others.

His work explores his Chinese and Vietnamese heritage, sexuality, masculinity, and self-love, and has featured in the Hollywood Reporter, AsAm News, Slam Find, All Def Poetry, and KCET. He aims to be an inspiration for fellow Asian Americans; an exclamation that brown and yellow kids can make an impact by being true to our stories.
