The Future of the Automobile — Mobility Entrepreneurship is a Stanford course taught by Reilly Brennan and Stephen Zoepf in Spring 2017. This course features a series of guest speakers across the spectrum of the mobility industry, with Pearl, Turo, and Lyft featured among others.

In order to provide an inside view to mobility enthusiasts not enrolled in the course, I will be publishing a weekly post here. These posts will feature a high level summary of each of the guest speaker discussions. While the content shared in the classroom will be kept confidential and off-the-record, I interview each speaker after class and publish those insights here. The goal will be to learn more about their companies as well as delve into the speakers’ views on general trends in the industry and predictions of where things are headed.

Some key themes to be explored:

  • What parts of the automotive industry’s value chain stand to be most disrupted going forward?
  • How do you see the timeline and competitive landscape playing out?
  • How will the changes in mobility influence urban planning and the city of the future?
  • What are some of the major obstacles the industry will face going forward?
  • What are common misconceptions about the industry and its future?

Keep your eyes out for these weekly updates — full speed ahead!
