Freedom Road

In pursuit of the thirteenth note and the twenty-seventh man

Down
The road
Of
Many
Signs, freedom
Is a
Dialect
Of destiny
Of spirits
Known and unknown
Meeting the beating
Drums of our past —
Opening the gate
To another new day
Of life in the folds —
Dancing with ancestors
Conversing with the elders
As we brave the spectrum
Of an ever-changing staff
In pursuit of the thirteenth note
And the twenty-seventh man
Who signifies the end of all
Things of our soul that no longer serve
Us — since "...weapons of our warfare
Are not of the world," but of the soul,
"Divinely powerful," ministering
Imagination as though it were
Salvation, because it is evident
That hope triumphs over our experience
Just as love overcomes both pride and death.
