Mochimo Monthly Update — October
Sorry guys, we have been doing a subpar job communicating our progress as of late. There are plenty of things happening behind the scenes, and we’d like to shed some light on what we have been up to.
Quantum News
The biggest update of the month in the Quantum space is Google publishing an article and a video confirming that they have achieved Quantum supremacy, making quantum-proof projects more relevant than ever.
State of the Network
We are now 3 months into the new Peach PoW algorithm (v2.4) and everything has gone smoothly. We created a brand-new algorithm from scratch, launched it without issue and celebrated the first Peach block solved on July 2, 2019. Kudos to the community for its help and support during the development of this unique “FPGA tough” PoW.
A bug bounty was awarded earlier this month as part of our “Responsible Bug Disclosure” program. This bug was preventing a proper resyncing of the nodes in a few cases.
Development
We are updating our API to facilitates third-party integration and, most notably, integration with exchanges. We recently added a new feature that will make it much easier to search for transaction info based on the txid, and we’ve added some new formats for block parsing called “human readable block” and “light block” that are around 100 times faster to load.
The first prototype of the Mobile Wallet is almost completed for both IOS and Android. The final changes are being made before moving on to integrating the core module. This project allows us to leverage the experience gained from developing the Java-based Mojo-wallet.
An update of the Mojo wallet is also in the works. The next version will add support for multi-destination transactions (allowing users to send MCM to 100 different tags in a single transaction). A new screen is being developed that will make dealing with WOTS much easier. Archiving of spent addresses will be automated. [If you have suggestions or feedback, submit your proposal for new features and changes on Github.]
We are working on a patch for the core node. This update will make the network even more stable by allowing nodes to recover smoothly from chain splits. It will also bring some improvements to the multi-destination transaction feature.
The Mochimo framework has been implemented in Node JS by Chrisdigity! The pre-release is already available on Github. It will prove extremely helpful for integrating Mochimo on web platforms.
Exchanges
QBTC exchange has listed MCM and we have been approached by other exchanges since then. As you know, Mochimo is taking the high road when it comes to regulation, which means that the Mochimo Foundation cannot pay any kind of listing fee. So far, all listing fees have been raised by the community and we expect to see the community rally behind once again.
Exchange-specific channels (#qtrade, #citex, #vinex) have been created in the Mochimo Discord, which should make it easier to report exchange-related issue.
Happy Halloween !
