Let jazz wash away the rain this summer

Summer is the time of year we all want to be outside. Despite only seeing a minimal amount of sunshine most summers, we still expect it year in year out. Nice weather is the main motivator that gets us out of the house, but it isn’t the only thing that makes the vibes more positive throughout the season.

Smiles are wider, everyone seems more relaxed, laughs are louder, people are more productive, friends get together more regularly, and spirits are higher. There’s a general feeling of happiness when we walk down the street, whether it’s the increased possibility that it could be sunny tomorrow or the excuse for drinking cocktails every day, I don’t know, but there is no denying in the fact that it’s the season of smiles.

This summer has been particularly dreadful for good weather. Who would have thought we would miss the humiliation of getting sunburnt by the British sun? Barbecues have been put to the back of our minds, our gardens neglected and summer walks have turned into summer drives.

It is clear that the lack of nice weather has caused a slight obstacle for getting on with the summer plans we’ve spent the whole year fantasising about, but rest assured there are still ways to appreciate the outdoors this summer. You may need a brolly, but that’s all.

If there is anything that can lift spirits even when things aren’t going according to plan, i.e. the weather, it is jazz music. Is there a better genre for getting our summer glow back? It may well just be us, but when we think of jazz, we are reminded of its magical ability of keeping us in the moment and appreciating the immediate surroundings of what is happening here and now as opposed to what is happening over there where the grass is greener and the sky bluer.

Perhaps it’s the smooth sound and experimental vibe of jazz that refreshes the mind and soul. Whatever it is, it is the perfect summer activity to perk up our close-to-miserable moods. The events of the festival are located all over the city, from inside to outside venues, making it ideal for the unreliable weather of Manchester.

Since we are based in Manchester, we will definitely be taking full advantage of this cultural event which will awaken the streets of the city this summer. As lovers of all things outdoors as rattan garden furniture specialists, we can’t wait to take a break from the working week next weekend to enjoy the jazzy atmosphere set to take over the city.
