Secularists would like Christians, and everyone of faith, to think that believing in a personal god, a creator, is foolish. However, when looked at from a reasonable perspective, secularists seem to be the foolish ones.

A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.

C.S. Lewis

I've been listening to Dr. William Lane Craig a lot recently, so naturally, here’s the Kalām cosmological argument:

Everything that has a beginning of its existence has a cause of its existence;

  1. The universe has a beginning of its existence; Therefore:
  2. The universe has a cause of its existence.

This argument does not use circular reasoning as some have said, it uses perfectly logical thought. Everything that begins to exist has a cause. It’s a rather simple, purely philosophical argument that makes sense. The easiest counterargument of the Kalām argument is for an atheist to say “then how was God brought into existence?”

“Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting” Psalm 93:2

The atheist counterargument is a bit of a cheap shot, not an intellectual, sophisticated one. It seems as though the atheists are just changing the subject from the fact that everything that starts to exist does in fact have a cause. Any reasonable person can acknowledge that God, the creator of everything we touch and see, made the rules by which his universe works.
