Beyoncé is back with a country-delving performance.

It has already been two years since the release of Beyoncé’s influential and innovative album, Renaissance, which remains one of my favorites. The experimental branch of house music mixed with dance-pop gave you a pleasing and confident sound. But here comes a new piece of news:

During the Super Bowl last night, the singer revealed her upcoming 8th studio album titled Act II scheduled to be released on March 29. As my research suggests, this project is the second chapter of her new trilogy that Beyoncé has worked on during the pandemic years.

I’m excited to see her progress in the coming years. Beyoncé is a remarkable artist of our generation, and every time she drops, it is something worth attention. As of right now, I can inform you that her second album is leaning towards a more country style.

First, let’s examine “16 Carriages.” The cover of the single showcases a remarkably confident and hopeless look of Beyoncé on the cover.

“16 Carriages” features a progressive and promisingly sounding instrument accompaniment bolstered by Beyoncé’s immaculate singing. Her chemistry with guitar incorporation seems to work extremely well for her, as she explores new interpretations of her vocals that I haven’t heard earlier from her. I absolutely adore the progression that is featured in the song, and how we come from slight guitar chords to cinematic drums with assertive epic sounds.

Final Rating: 8.8/10

Coming to the second track, “Texas Hold ’Em” is a cover that focuses on the explicit image of Beyoncé in the element of cowboy clothing, which serves as a slight hint of the project’s soundscape:

‘Country and confidence’

‘Texas Hold ‘Em” is a funnier and easier listen than “16 Carriages”, but still features a similar soundscape with a multilayered mandolin instrumental and uptempo drums.

This track is extremely groovy. Despite my ignorance in the country genre, I still see an exceedingly lively track. The rhythm of this song, influenced by Beyoncè, will make your toes tap. Her vocals sound dazzling on that track, and I am also really digging the country’s inspired background vocals such as periodic whistles and Beyoncè’s ad-libs.

I like “16 Carriages” slightly more, but I am certain that “Texas Hold ‘Em” would have a bigger replay ability in my rotation, because of its catchiness and artistic easiness.

Final Rating: 8/10

The two singles have built up my anticipation for the new Beyoncé project, and I have high hopes that it will be as remarkable as the Renaissance. It’s interesting to consider her past Grammy results, particularly since she has never won Album of the Year in her entire career.
