LISTEN to Brat and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not:

APPLE MUSIC / SPOTIFY

It has been only 3 days since the original drop of BRAT, and Charli is already giving a deluxe with 3 unreleased tracks.

Since the Friday release of BRAT until today, June 12th, I’ve had ample time to appreciate and embrace the entire thing fully.

As I was saying before, this project is certainly not about creating lyrical ballads, instead, it’s about the energy that it offers and the subsequent enjoyment. Each track is packed with substance; there’s no mediocrity or even a hint of it.

The release is so well-rounded that even songs I previously didn’t vibe with are now getting me to groove and dance.

So for the original BRAT, I slightly change my rating from 9.6 to 9.7.

Now, let’s get back to the topic of the discussion — deluxe or (Brat and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not ).

This track list offers 3 new songs, namely “Hello Goodbye”, “Guess”, and “Spring Breakers”, so let’s go through each one of them song by song.

“Hello Goodbye” is an absolute bop. If some tracks on BRAT did not have that clear dance structure of a song before, this one absolutely screams about it. A good starting point with the 1st verse followed by a bridge & build up reaching the climax of the song, which is the drop. It may take a little longer for the beat to drop, but it’s definitely worth the wait.

The song production sits extremely well with Charli’s lighthearted delivery, making it a cool little dance song, what I can’t say about the following song.

“Guess” is not the typical cool dance track; it’s a more electronic and exciting experience with hard-hitting synths and a confident, and slightly menacing tone by Charli. Sounds crazy, right? It is rather extremely fun; it is creepy, abstract, and very fun.

“Guess” really got under my skin with this tone of delivery, which I liked so much earlier on the “365” and “Von Dutch”. As previously mentioned, I’m extremely pleased that she’s not sticking to a single style. Here, she fully explored the sound aspects of a song, resulting in a project that is virtuosic and versatile.

And as for the last song “Spring Breakers”. It seems like with all three songs in a row, Charli gradually decreases the predictability of the way the song goes and increases its craziness.

“Spring Breakers” is simply all over the place with its bubblegum bass and monumental synths making this song extremely multidimensional. With a short length of song and such a big intensity of it, you are simply left to observe all the craziness that is going on there, which is so exciting.

The song’s raw, trippy sounds and anti-mainstream approach explain why she didn’t include it in the original BRAT; it only makes me love the song more.

With those 3 songs included, I have no other option but to give BRAT a well-deserved 10/10.

This record is not as lyrical as the COWBOY CARTER, to which I also gave a 10. It is also not revolutionary in terms of the concept. However, it possesses a certain uniqueness that sets it apart.

BRAT gives you such a surprising ride to nowhere, which makes you like this album even more, for its sonic complexity, and unified album simplicity. I am stunned, and I am already excited to get a CD of this record, to bump it with good and big speakers in my room.

(I am sorry, neighbors)
