HISS by Megan Thee Stallion | Song Review
Tina Snow is back in full form.
Megan The Stallion is back with her first single of 2024, “HISS.” This track lines up with the theme of her last single “Cobra.” That track had some rock elements in it and there was even a “Rock remix” of it done by a band called Spiritbox. Meg was aggressively vocal about the events in her life lately in “Cobra” and based on the teasers, looked to be continuing in that direction with “HISS.”
Megan Thee Stallion’s “HISS” finds Meg taking shots at the men and women who have her name in their mouths. Through an aggressive delivery and several flow switches, Megan lets them know it’ll be the last time it ever happens. This track is very in line with the type of music the Tina Snow character Megan created would make. Naturally, Megan mentions this in the song in the bars “He can’t move on, can’t let it go/ He hooked, nose full of that Tina Snow,” a timely double entendre. There are several other clever punchlines like this that appear throughout the song, along with other references to situations Meg has been dealing with in the media.
Amongst the flow switches, Megan also takes a few moments to speak — not rap — directly to her haters and naysayers on the song. Her aggression and confidence don’t falter during these moments either. Ominous keys carry the melody of the song which are paired with the skittering drums Meg is known for rapping on. The production comes from her go-to producer Lil Ju who linked with Bankroll Got It and Shawn “Source” Jarrett.
The track “HISS” is the second one Megan has released through her own imprint, Hot Girl Productions LLC. With her continuing in this direction, listeners should be ready for Megan’s vulnerability and creativity to continue to combine to create something that truly is her vision.
