BADBADNOTGOOD have several collabs in their discography and each one brings something different. This time, they’ve collaborated with singer Baby Rose. This collab, much like their others, was strategic and their collaborator had nothing but praise for the song-making process with the band. To announce the song, they both posted some black and white behind-the-scenes pictures and footage. The track comes from their new collaborative EP titled Slow Burn that drops on April 12th.

This collaborative track, titled “One Last Dance” has a certain vintage feeling to it. Baby Rose’s voice sounds like one you’d hear in a lounge on a late night at some point in the past. It’s comforting and yet, there’s a reflective quality to it too. She sings of seeing someone who was once her lover and considers their past but doesn’t bring it up — she just wants to dance with them again. At various points, her background vocalizations enhance her lead vocals while at other points these vocalizations come to the forefront. The peacefulnesses they provide pairs excellently with the band’s instrumentation.

BADBADNOTGOOD’s production and Baby Rose’s vocals give the entire song a mix of somber, emotional and tranquil feelings. There’s an organ-like instrument that doesn’t provide the lead melody but its subtle presence is still melodic. The true star is the woodwind instrument whose embellishments throughout the track bring to mind the feeling of love that Baby Rose is singing about that is now floating away. And as always with BBNG, the bassline is just as prevalent as the rest of the instruments whose deep tone still stands out amongst the gentle drums.

According to Baby Rose, this song only took them one day to make but nothing about it sounds rushed. It’s a testament to the power of artists who have a goal in mind and they know what needs to be done to achieve it. This single is surely a sign of great things to come from their EP in April.
