Current Writers

  • Provide at least one (1) post for the publication per month, strictly enforced. Inactive writers will be removed on the 1st of the following month and will be ineligible to return as a writer for MMA for the following six months
  • While music reviews are subjective, all reviews should be fact-based and representative of a larger stance than just opinion. Research diligently, give sources their credit where it’s due, + all the other tenants of ethical journalism
  • Album reviews, in order to fulfill SEO parameters, must be formatted as the following: “(album title) by (artist) | Album Review”. Album reviews submitted that do no follow this formatting will not be published until formatted accordingly. The album cover art should be the designated photo of the review, as is permitted under Fair Use guidelines. The cover should be captioned with the source you’ve grabbed it from
  • Must attend the editorial meeting for the month or meet the equivalent through editor approval
  • Support your fellow MMA writers (clap, comments, etc.)
  • Join the MMA Discord for ease of communication within publication
  • Be confident in your opinion and writing. Love what you do and strive to find more and more music to review. Don’t be afraid to support and collaborate with other writers and publications! Music is subjective, everyone will always have a different opinion, so don’t be upset if someone doesn’t agree with you. Extend professional courtesy to your peers, respect is expected of all writers.

Unfortunately, contributions made to Modern Music Analysis are unpaid at this time unless enrolled in the Medium Partner Program. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this submission guidelines, feel free to contact me through private note or email modernmusicanalysis@gmail.com.
