Attempted to set boundaries with my mom and now she’s upset

Background: 15-month-old son, we live in the same city as my mom. We have been dealing with a bout of constipation for a little while. We’ll have a good strand then our little guy will get backed up and then good again. We’ve been in frequent contact with our pediatrician and have been doing everything we can, making dietary adjustments as we go, increasing water intake as much as he’s willing to drink, etc. Point is, we’re actively trying to combat this and care deeply. There is no medical emergency and the doctor isn’t worried.

During Easter, he was struggling to go, and it sent my mom on the path that caused our argument. A couple of days later, (he still passes a BM but it’s not as free-flowing as we’d like at this point), she basically acts like she’s going to take control and decides what we need to do for him, telling us he needs to drink 44 oz of water, that we need to take calm breaks for him to drink, while she’s sending me screenshots of “signs of constipation” like we know nothing of it. She goes on and on and I get frustrated saying “Mom we have it under control, we’re doing what we can.” and stopped responding because I went to bed. The next day she continues so I step outside of work to call her. She’s immediately combative and expresses that she doesn’t trust our parenting right now and feels like we aren’t taking the…
