Protecting my Oldest Child from “Parentification”
My oldest kid is 12 and my youngest is 3 (there’s also a 5-year old). My oldest, let’s call her Sara, absolutely dotes on my youngest, let’s call her Jane. They share a bedroom and Sara seems to be utterly besotted with Jane, finds her adorable in every respect, and jokes about Jane being her (Sara’s) baby.
