Modern Residents is the name given to my professional home organizing business + blog. My goals include helping people maximize their environments by creating smartly appointed residential living spaces and mentoring on methods to sustain an organized lifestyle. This article introduces the lifestyle of a “modern resident” by highlighting 5 things we all have in common.

1. A ‘Live in The Now’ Modus Operandi

Being a modern resident means permanently residing in the present moment. This means letting go of what no longer serves us, whether it be old thought patterns, emotional baggage, sabotaging beliefs or unnecessary material items. Usually, it’s a combination of all the above. We seek to be free from anything that will hold us back. We strive to be the best versions of ourselves.

2. The Desire to Sustain an Organized Lifestyle

Not only do we appreciate orderliness, we embrace an “out with the old, in with the new” mentality. For some of us, it comes naturally. However, for many, it’s a constant challenge we work hard to overcome in order to reduce wastefulness. Throughout the years, we tend to accumulate a lot of stuff. Without purging the unnecessary, we can become overwhelmed by clutter. We have decided on an appropriate quantity of belongings, let go of anything unneeded and focus on the quality of our space.

3. A Focus of Attention on What Matters Most

We embrace ourselves and our surroundings by focusing our attention only on what serves us well. By detaching from material items that no longer help us, we can focus our attention on achieving our daily objectives. We carefully reserve our time, money and energy, making us more productive throughout a given day.

4. Unparalleled Peace of Mind

Not bombarding our senses with clutter helps give the eyes a place to rest. When our surroundings are orderly, we’re able to function free of distractions. When we downsize uselessness, it creates a phenomenon of living in pure abundance. When our space properly serves us, we are fulfilled. Modern residents enjoy clarity and enhanced moods thanks to the serenity our surroundings bring.

5. A Way of Making Others Feel Comfortable

When we are residing in the present moment, clear-headed and focused on being the best version of ourselves, we radiate positivity. This has a way of making the people around us feel welcome and inspired to be the best version of themselves. Home should be an official safe haven and place to resort to relaxation. Not cramping our living quarters helps us to dwell with purpose.
