You’re not patient enough.

You know it, I know it. Everyone around you knows it. But we’re all in the same boat. We don’t live in a patient world anymore. It’s fast-paced, it never sleeps, it’s 24/7/365.

I’ve never really known a patient world. Being born mid-90s, I can’t remember much of my life before the Internet rolled in to town.

And it’s the Internet which is to blame. We’ve grown to expect everything now, because the Internet gives us that luxury.

You want me to find something in a textbook? Pfft, I’ll just Google it.

Go to the travel agents and book a holiday? Pfft, I’ll just do it online.

Start my own business? Pfft, this get-rich-quick scheme looks way better.

In an age where almost everything we know about human existence can be searched from a mini computer that sits in our pockets, patience doesn’t even enter the discussion.

But it should, because the best skill you can ever possess is the ability to be patient. Patient with others, patient with yourself, patient with the world.

Everyone moves so fast these days, but remember that things take time.

You can’t become a social media influencer with thousands of followers overnight. That takes months.

You can’t build a multi-million pound business in a few days. That takes years.

You can’t create a successful, future-proof personal brand in a few months. That takes decades.

Success — however you choose to define it — takes time.

Remain persistent, but just be patient.

Good things come to those who wait.
