We are a respectful party

Uncommon in today’s America, we are a party that stands for everyone. Everyone has a voice and as long as you can let everyone else have theirs, we will have unity. We understand that people have differing opinions and beliefs. We hold every belief to the highest regard so long as it is respectful of those around us.

Every voice is equal. The big two parties today are always struggling to “get” the minority vote by speaking directly to them and appealing to their sensibilities. We don’t believe in minorities. Through the eyes of a Whig, we are all humans. This doesn’t make us ignorant to the past’s social injustices as we want to fix issues of institutional racism and racism itself.

We stand for everyone.

Every person is equal and deserves equal representation.

No person is above anyone else, regardless of their race, creed, beliefs, ethnicity, or where they’re from. None of this matters, we are all here now and we are all in this together. We stand together something that we can all be proud of, being American.

We strongly stand behind our members and give them their ground to speak on. Every person comes in with their own identity, philosophy, and ideas; which build them into who they are.

New ideas and different perspectives are what make the Whigs strong. We value all ideas equally as we want to represent the majority of people.

Every idea has its merit.

In today’s media, you frequently see pundits labeling one group as racist or the other as liberals (with a negative connotation). These sort of argument tactics provide no value to the conversation. It’s very easy to sling a label onto a person, then they are forced to defend themselves instead of actually having a conversation about the topic at hand. This not only labels the other person as the enemy, it also prevents them from ever bringing up solid points against your argument. Argument won.

As Whigs, we stand firmly against this. Whigs thrive on the other side of conversation. We want to shape our policies, ideas, and our party to match that of the most people. We have no secret agendas, we have no ulterior motives that are stoked by interest groups. Our interest group is the American people and we are the voice of them.

The big political parties currently represent only where their money is coming from. We represent the people.

It’s most likely that you discovered the Modern Whigs because you feel that the Republicans or Democrats no longer represent you. That’s why I’m now speaking on behalf of them.

It’s time for a change.

Our goal is to make human demonization a thing of the past. We want everyone to respect the other in any discussion. You are entitled to your own opinion.

If you have strong feelings against a particular race or ethnicity, please consider how they have personally affected you. Most often, we fear the unknown. That is why we tend to classify people with broad statements so we can make assumptions based on a severely limited knowledge of the individual.

This is especially true after the most recent election. As you might have seen, everyone who voted for Trump is a bigot, and everyone who voted for Hillary is supporting a criminal.

This is spawned from a general lack of understanding the other side of the argument. In most circumstances, Trump supporters were looking for someone who wasn’t a political puppet and Hillary supporters were looking to have a representative who was well versed in politics and foreign policy. Neither of which were heavily supported by people who identify as Democrats or Republicans.

After the election, both sides were accused of living in a bubble and not understanding the qualms and realities of the other side. As a Whig, we embrace the other side. We want to be challenged in our thoughts, our logic, and our sensibilities.

If you look at sites like ISideWith.com, you can see the majority of people support many causes. I’m willing to bet this doesn’t mean there are 70–80% Democrats or Republicans. This means people aren’t being represented properly. This doesn’t mean that one side or the other is wrong, but it does mean that there is a disconnect with the parties and their voters.

As citizens of America, we need to unite and make our voices heard, louder than ever before.

We need to unite, as the Whig Party.
