Have you ever closed your eyes and just sat with yourself, connecting to the world within you? Have you wondered how this function works? What is the source of my happiness? How can I live more joyfully?

We’re living in a world that provides maximum comfort for most of us. Yet, we experience more anxiety, fear, and symptoms of depression. Studies by the World Health Organization (WHO)

state that in 2019, 1 in every 8 people, or 970 million people around the world, were living with a mental disorder, with anxiety and depressive disorders being the most common.

In 2020, the number of people living with anxiety and depressive disorders rose significantly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initial estimates show a 26% and 28% increase, respectively, for anxiety and major depressive disorders in just one year.

The more we immerse ourselves in an artificial world linked with outer space, Metaverse, and NFTs, the more we may lose connection to our inner universe. Based on this realization, I decided to embark on a a 4-day journey dedicated to teaching us how to manage our inner world, be more connected, and ultimately align our “Life energy” with consciousness.

Let’s begin with a short introduction.

What is the Inner Engineering course, and who is it by?

Inner Engineering is a course designed by Sadhguru, who emphasises that we live in a world focused on the external, without spending enough energy to understand our inner world. Depression, anxiety, and stress are all subsets of this external focus.

Once we learn how to manage our inner world, our outer world will become joyful. After all, being on Earth is a blessing, not a curse, for most of us who aren’t struggling for basic needs.

Sometimes in life, you naturally feel called to pursue certain things. So, I embarked on this journey without fully knowing what to expect, but with an open mind beyond the analytical

Now that we’ve cleared the basics, i’ll move on to the course synopsis:

Day 1 (6–9pm):

  • Preparation and Introduction to the course
  • Introduction in small groups and homework for the day
  • First stage of Pre Kriya for Shambhavi Mahamudra (explanation at the bottom)
  • Homework: Understand and be conscious that YOUR responsibility is limitless (explained in the last section of the article)

Day 2 (6–9pm):

  • No notepads policy, listen with your entire being — easier said that done, honestly especially for a note taker *sighs*
  • Further steps in kriya
  • Homework and imparted knowledge — Understand that this very moment in your life is inevitable. If you live in consciousness of this, you will be joyful.
  • Know that happiness is our natural state of being; it shouldn’t be something to strive towards or be action-based.

Deep? Yes, I know. Don’t worry, I don’t fully understand this one either.

Day 3 (6am–9pm):

  • Full day with Sattvic meals, Neem balls and more physical cleanses such as maintaining silence & no eye contact
  • Kriya practice twice and more knowledge imparted
  • Karma talks — it’s not like the American movies have portrayed “good karma” and “bad karma”- Karma is BEYOND this.
  • Pay attention to your breath; it is life.

Day 4 (6am–9pm):

  • Morning sports and fun activities
  • Initiation into Shambhavi Kriya
  • Wrap up with a very mystical ending during the initiation ceremony, you may experience mystical experiences, such as screams, tears, and faintish energy from people in the room.
  • This cannot be explained in this article but was the most profound part, so I will move on.

What were the key 5 lessons learned to enhance life force energy?

The way you breathe defines your life.

Pay attention to the thing that gives us life force: our breath. Breath defines our mental status, stress, and longevity of life. Which nostril you breathe dominantly from time to time also defines masculine and feminine energies within you. Breathing techniques are crucial to enhance life force energy by improving the basics, such as breathing we are opening up our life energies.

This very moment is inevitable

This means that this very moment in your life is inevitable. If you live each moment with this consciousness, you’ll create miracles for yourself. You will realize that you have the option to ground yourself in the present moment and choose your thoughts and emotions.

We all know that thoughts & emotions can change our destiny — Joe dispenza also says this.

Your responsibility is limitless

See yourself as a Mother to the world and live with the understanding that we’re all part of one consciousness. This will lead you to choose positive vibrations all around, lifting your overall sense of joy.

Strong likes and dislikes increase karmic bondage

Karma is beyond what we’ve been told. It’s not as simple as “do good, good happens; do bad, bad happens.” If you have strong feelings, you create rigidity in your life, preventing you from being flexible, receptive, and open to life energies. By practicing reducing your likes and dislikes, starting with food, you can elevate your life energy and see a transformation in your life.

Certain foods deplete our life energies, while some have no effect.

Here is a list:

  • Negative energy foods: Meat, Fish, Onion, Garlic, Caffeinated Tea, Coffee, and Aubergine
  • No energy foods: Tomatoes and Potatoes

What is Shambhavi Mahamudra? In simplistic terms, it’s a kriya in which you’re initiated while practicing it every day during the course. This kriya has lifelong benefits, including longevity, vitality, and cohesiveness of life force energy.
