Moms are always busy with everything that they need to do. From cooking dinner to ensuring the house is clean, there is never a shortage of items on the to-do list.

When I became a mom in April 2020, the shock of all these responsibilities brought me to my knees. Suddenly, I was in charge of this little human being and responsible for feeding, clothing, and caring for him on top of everything else.

Immediately I put any thoughts of my own needs on the back shelf.

I lost myself in caring for my baby and, in the process, became desperately unhappy. I had low self-esteem and negative thoughts and couldn’t enjoy my baby. My relationship with my husband started to go downhill, and I trusted other people’s opinions before my own.

It was only once I reconnected with my faith that I slowly started to rediscover myself.

Being A Mom Is Tough

Mama, I know how hectic it is to be a mom, and I know you’re putting yourself last and suffering for it.

You’re likely struggling from:

  • Low self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Negative thoughts
  • Crippling self-doubt
  • Exhaustion
  • And you feel like a broken version of the person you once were.

But trust me when I say that God’s unconditional love for you can and will heal you.

Prayers Are The Answer

Prayers are the best way to get in touch with God and surrender to complete peace.

Prayer works through the power of repetition — it constantly renews your faith and trust in God and God’s plan, and it helps you overcome your limiting beliefs.

I’ve been praying daily since falling pregnant, which has been a constant reassurance for me.

One of my best decisions ever was to surrender completely to God — my life has changed for the better. He is with me every step of the way, and I can see His presence in all aspects of my life.

How To Pray

The way you pray is a very personal matter.

Long story short — do what works for you. Here is a list of some of the ways you can pray:

  1. Whenever you remember — I do this often. Throughout daily life, when a scary thought occurs to me or I’m grateful for something, I say a little prayer to our loving heavenly father.
  2. Pray before you go to bed at night — I’m not a big fan of this, as I always fall asleep while trying to pray before bed! I instead pray when I’m awake and focused.
  3. You can try to pray at a specific time of day — whichever time works for you. But this may be difficult for a mom with a newborn to do.
  4. You can also pray in pictures or images — you don’t necessarily have to try and find the right words. Often I simply picture these giant, golden, glowing Hands enveloping my family unit, protecting us from all harm.
  5. Also, try to be more active in your prayer — say THANKS to God rather than only asking for help. For example, “Thanks for the strength to deal with this, God”. Rather than, “Please help me deal with this.” Doing this helps to reframe your mind and starts you off on a positive foot.

But most importantly: Put your faith and trust in the word of God, the will of God, and in God himself.
