Dear ladies,

There is a new disease afflicting women. If you know anyone exhibiting any of the following worrying symptoms kindly reach out to the Centers for Care Management and Women Empowerment (CCMWE).

Nobody quite knows what is going on. The public health officials have labelled it an endemic.

It usually occurs at the burgeoning of puberty, and it afflicts all manner of women. Regardless of social class, education level or financial bearing.

It starts slowly with a critical desire to please and be everything to everyone.

The pain is often worse when others are around or in large gatherings.

Many days it hurts especially when women have to be other than themselves. With a little respite gotten from being left alone.

It has been labelled care-itis. It’s only women affected by it. Men seem to be immune to it. It is when a woman can’t just stop caring. It’s a modern cancer, that is eating at the soul of every woman.

She just has to care, care, care. It’s maddening. She gets sick of caring for everyone. For her children, romantic partners, community, home, pets, heck even total strangers.

She has this affliction because it seems the main way her worth is gotten. her self-esteem is tied to how much labour she can shower on others.

Most women take supplements (Netflix, shopping, food, escapism) to try and ease symptoms.

Some go to extremes, using alcohol or other substances to zone out.

But when she’s sober and lucid again, all the emotional weight of her care comes rushing back.

Scientists are developing ways to help many women recover from this ailment.

These scientists specialize in feminism, women empowerment, and self-love coaching.

Still, there is a lot of work to do, to develop a universal cure for this sickness.

One brilliant scientist even suggested a ridiculously simple intervention She calls it sacred rest. You know, like just taking a break from all the caring.

She said most women might need to relax on the over-caring and refocus on their self-care.

Most of the male-led scientific community has offered heavy pushback to this recommendation. Claiming her research methodology is too simplistic and “unscientific”

So we are still awaiting a pill to be developed for this affliction.

Until then, if you come across any women in need of medical attention, kindly reach out to the Centers for Care Management and Women Empowerment (CCMWE).

They will provide her with lots of I-could-care-less resources and let-that-shit-go tools to help her manage her symptoms, and emotional responses to other people’s crap.

Signed
