Being women, We all do our jobs for a living, which is the most normal thing in our lives.

However, women in some areas are still struggling for economic independence, one of which I came from is India(some parts are still growing). There are still women who need to be financially independent. They must depend on their husband’s money even for most minor necessities.

Because of that, sometimes ladies want to do some things just for fun, but they can’t because they are relying on someone’s money, so they stop asking to buy unnecessary things, and the family members assume that her needs are less, which is sad, and no one bothers to think that much more profound for her.

In childhood, I started seeing this dependency on men around me, which used to bother me a lot. At a very young age, I decided to be financially independent, no matter what happened, to give the women surrounding me a better life.

Now, I am living abroad with my in-law family. I live with my mother-in-law; she doesn’t go to work as well due to her health conditions.

We are all planning to go to India next month. There is a wedding to attend, so yesterday my mother-in-law went shopping. She called me and said that

Raman, look at the dresses; these are so pretty. I have been to this shop a few times but hadn’t considered buying them as I don’t think I need them. I have enough clothes “,

and I was like, “Mom, we are buying today”.She just told me which dress she wanted, and we purchased one; she was very happy after buying the dress. I also bought one for myself.

I could see that she was very excited and she gave me the other shop’s name and planned to go there next Saturday.

When we returned from the shop sitting on the bus, I thought,

“Thank god….I am financially independent.”

because today I can give my mother-in-law her favourite suit, and she can have it without any hesitation

I was delighted and proud that what I had used to think in my childhood, I did it. Even if it is the most minor thing, it is still the most incredible thing I have ever done.

One day, I read this quote

“An independent woman can take care of herself emotionally and financially.”

But In my version, I want to say that

“An independent woman can care for herself and others, emotionally and financially.”

Sometimes, being financially independent doesn’t mean you have to pay half of the electricity bills or for any other house activities .it means you can make some difference in someone’s life.

Every time I go to work, no matter how tired I feel or how many difficulties I have to face at work, I still always feel gratitude for my work because I know some women are still finding a place at least to start.

So going to work is a valuable thing for me.

Thank you for reading my article .
