I have finally realised what my problem is at getting the monthly prompt to you on time… it’s you guys! On the last few days of each month and for the first week, so many of you seem to get a sudden push to write your hearts out and submit as much work as possible. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, I genuinely love reading the rabbit holes you travel down but wow, you sure do know how to work myself and the team!

Anyway, with the queues finally cleared (for the next hour or so at least) I finally have the space to tell you about the theme that has been percolating away in my mind this last few weeks.

Before I do that, let’s just take a second to celebrate the work you submitted on last month’s theme… the role of play in your lives and how accessible ‘play’ is for a woman in today’s world.

You shared the expectations of your unique cultures. You shared your journeys of how you have worked to find the play and the pleasure in your lives and importantly, the permission you have had to offer yourselves to enable time to be devoted to the enjoyment of it.

It seems as though the majority of us have struggled to play with our children, or to find space for finding play as adults who are too often told that play ends when childhood does.
