How are you all doing out there?

There is something that feels like relief on a rainy day after the first weeks of summer. The sun seems to call us all outside, and as the layers of clothes come off, for me at least, there is a sense of demand that comes with good weather. An expectation to see people, to be more extroverted, busy and active. So on days like today, I feel I finally have permission to pause, catch my breath and catch up with all of you.

How are you?

I find things have finally settled down here on the Medium platform. The glitches and bots have been dealt with, and the new direction for the type of work ‘they’ are looking for seems to have found a consistent path. That’s not to say the change has been in women’s favour, it hasn’t. By and large you write personal essays, deeply moving, relatable and informative stories, but often based in your own lived experiences.

I love those stories. I love the connection across continents and cultures that we find through them, the pushing back of motherhood isolation, the empowerment of encouraging words from a life lived miles away but is so similar to your own. Even when you are not boosted, or rewarded enough for your words, I hope you know how important they are.
