What a time we find ourselves living in as we begin a new week in a new month…

Here in the UK we have the first black female leader of a political party and I have to wonder will that be a reflection of the American political landscape this week? What will it mean for women if Trump is elected, will it feel like a no to female leadership or a no to black female leadership? And of course what will it mean to women’s rights in America and how that influence is felt globally? It’s a challenging time.

That on the macro but on the micro, in our individual lives fertility rates are dropping and on the one hand women are feeling more empowered and freer than ever to be in charge of their own destinies, but on the other, how many women are childless rather than childfree, and are in the position of not being able to find a partner that meets their emotional needs?

It’s not all doom and gloom though, far from it actually, but I think sometimes we get so busy with the relentless push forward we forget just how much we are carrying and how much world events impact us, and it’s important to pause, remember and offer ourselves and each other a little grace and empathy.

We’re doing an amazing job.
