Heart beats of life and love
When did it happen? When did the music die? The heart of rock and roll is supposed to live forever, isn’t it? When did I stop believing in my wildest dreams? Did it get lost somewhere between Georgia on my mind and the dreams of a sweet home in Alabama?
A magic man promised me wheels in the sky and heaven’s staircase. A sharply dressed soul man declared he would stand by me if I just walked this way. Together, we would take each other to the river and build a bridge over our troubled waters. Instead, he left me sitting at the dock of the bay until I walked under the boardwalk.
Purple people eaters gnarled at my flesh and bones and attacked parts of my body and soul. It all made me crazy. Is it the dark side of the moon or a bad moon rising that stole the glitter in the air from me?
Oct. 2023 — What is a song that reminds you of your loved one and why? My oldest daughter replied, “Fast Cars” by Tracy Chapman. I remember listening to this song when we went out on our drives. I always think of Mom when it comes on the radio.
Wow. I had forgotten about that. I did not know the impact it made on my daughter.
